il quartetto locatelli

Ensemble of recent formation, through the meeting of four musicians now living in Cremona, Italy. Andrès Locatelli and Eva Sola from Argentina, Nicholas Robinson from England, and Francesco Corti from Arezzo, Italy.

Each musician comes from very different musical backgrounds and experiences, which makes the creation of this quartet so interesting musically.

Francesco Corti, a young harpsichordist with already a tremedously successful solo and recording career, winner of the first prize in the Bach Leipzig competition, aside from his work with Les Musiciens du Louvre (Marc Minkowski), Le Concert de Nations (Jordi Savall) and Ensemble Zefiro (Alfredo Bernardini);

Nicholas Robinson, a very well known name in early music, has been principal violin with many Italian baroque ensembles, including La Pietà dei Turchini, l’Accademia Bizantina, Concerto Italiano, Dolce e Tempesta, and at present with La Risonanza (Fabio Bonizzoni) and Zefiro (Alfredo Bernardini);

Eva Sola worked and studied in Buenos Aires before coming to Italy where she now performs with Il Complesso Barocco (Alan Curtis), La Pietà dei Turchini (Antonio Florio), Ensemble Elyma (Gabriel Garrido) and La Risonanza (Fabio Bonizzoni);

Andrès Locatelli studied in Rosario, Buenos Aires, and Amsterdam and plays with Concerto Italiano (Rinaldo Alessandrini) and Les Musiciens du Louvre (Marc Minkovski).

Chance brought each player to Cremona and the opportunity to begin playing chamber music together was taken immediately. So, after 18 months of playing together on free afternoons and evenings just for the pleasure of reading through the wonderful repertoire available for recorder, violin and bass continuo, a name was given to the group along with the idea and the desire to start performing concerts: thus, the Quartetto Locatelli was created. Quartetto Locatelli will perform at the "Festival Claudio Monteverdi di Cremona" 2011.
